Education and Training

An important component of MAC's work is to empower parents with knowledge and skills so they can advocate directly for their children with school districts or other public institutions.  In this way, MAC extends the reach of its advocacy capabilities, as our staff and private bar pro bono capacity only enables us to represent limited numbers of children.

Depending on the topic, MAC will also provide education to educators or health professionals on the latest changes in laws or the latest research.  Finally, in its "train the trainer" model, MAC provides special training for attorneys and advocates for free in exchange for their commitment to provide training to additional groups of parents.

To the extent that resources are available, we can schedule a training for community groups in the following areas: Changes in the Special Education Law, Special Education and Discipline, Special Education and MCAS, Autism and Trauma and Learning.
