We provide help, through our helpline, for children who are facing barriers to receiving educational supports and services to which they are legally entitled. Our priorities are children with disabilities, homeless children, children who have been expelled or suspended from school, and children traumatized by exposure to family violence or other adverse experiences.

WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN YOU CALL THE HELPLINE: When you contact the helpline, a staff advocate, volunteer or intern will call you back during business hours as soon as they are available. They will gather more information from you, and listen to more details about the problems you are having and the results you are seeking. Then, they will give you information to help you address your problem. They may also provide you with form letters or referrals to attorneys or advocates who can help you.

In some instances for low-income families, we may be able to provide representation from our staff or referral to a pro-bono attorney or advocate. PLEASE NOTE: We do not take cases involving housing/eviction, or custody disputes. If you need legal assistance with those issues, please look for the legal services office nearest you.
