Help us protect every child’s right to education.
Your voice matters! Legislators repeatedly tell us they pay more attention when a message contains a personal note from a constituent explaining why they care about an issue. Here are five ways you can ensure your voice is heard:
Sign up for MAC Alerts
Receive updated information about proposed federal and state changes impacting children with disabilities: sign up here.
Meet with your State Legislators
Identify your state senator and representative at www.wheredoivotema.com.
Visit your state lawmakers during their district office hours or at the State House.
Tell your story as a parent, clinician, educator, or advocate.
Tell them that you appreciate the state’s historic support for children with disabilities.
Long-term “ask”: Ask them to work with you to maintain rights and services for children with disabilities as federal changes move forward.
Short-term “ask”: Ask them to support MAC’s current legislative initiatives.
Contact members of Congress
Ask your US representative and senators to maintain the Affordable Care Act, Medicaid, and education rights, services, and funding impacting children with disabilities. You can find their contact information and share your experiences at www.wheredoivotema.com.
E-mail the Governor
http://www.mass.gov/governor/constituent-services/contact-governor-office/Thank Gov. Baker for his past support of children’s issues and share your own experience to ensure he continues to protect children’s rights at the state level.
Contact your local superintendent and mayor
Ask them to take steps necessary to ensure that children with disabilities, immigrant children, children from low-income families, children of color, and children who have experienced trauma can fully and safely participate in school activities.
Ask them to publicize the name of a school official to contact regarding any safety or access concerns.
