LGBTQIA+ YOUTH RIGHTS IN EDUCATION

Countless students in Massachusetts schools face problems such as discrimination related to their LGBTQIA+ identities. These problems include bullying, harassment, or assault by peers or adults in school due to how they choose to present their identities: How they dress or wear their hair, which names or pronouns they choose, or who they associate with like family, friends or partners.

Children and youth have the legal right to access their education, a right protected by state and federal laws. Below you will find useful information about accessing your educational rights and/or supporting a student. These Massachusetts organizations are advocates who offer support and legal information and can help ensure LGBTQIA+ students are safe, affirmed, and able to learn.
