Kim Janey to Serve on Superintendent’s Transition Team

Kim Janey, Senior Project Director at MAC, has just been appointed to serve on the Superintendent’s Transition Team. The Transition Team will provide critical input as the new Superintendent of the Boston Public Schools (BPS) takes office. Dr. Tommy Chang will serve as the next Superintendent of BPS for five years beginning on July 1, 2015. He and the Transition Team are launching a “listen & learn” campaign.

Janey was selected as one of thirty-five individuals by the incoming superintendent for the Transition Team to provide him with guidance in the early months of his tenure.

Janey heads MAC’s Boston School Reform Project, a steady force for eliminating barriers and achievement gaps for children with communities of color and families living in poverty, English language learners, and children with disabilities, and for effecting systemic changes in Boston Public Schools.

Janey served on the interview panels as part of the superintendent selection process and she looks forward to working with Dr. Chang to improve children’s access to quality education and eliminate achievement and opportunity gaps.

Dr. Chang’s Transition Team appointments were announced in The Boston Herald and The Boston Globe.

MAC encourages members of the public to visit the Transition Team website at http://www.bostonpublicschools.org/Page/4802 to share ideas, concerns, and priorities with the Transition Team at transition@bostonpublicschools.org. The first Transition Team meeting is this coming Thursday, April 30.
