In memory of Sheila Deppner
In memoriam: Sheila Deppner
We have lost a giant among advocates. Sheila was a teacher and advocate for children with special needs with expertise in autism. No one had a bigger heart or was more tenacious or more dedicated to the children we serve. No child she advocated for faced a barrier that couldn’t be overcome, a problem that couldn’t be solved. And no one moved heaven and earth like Sheila to make sure each child would get what he or she needed. Sheila was a former staff and then board member of MAC, but she never left us as she continued to do her advocacy, taking cases, seeking advice, sharing her expertise always. She never stopped; there was always one more child. She was a mentor, a colleague, a friend. We send our deepest condolences to her family and friends. We will miss her deeply.
Sheila Rose (Giblin) Deppner, 73, of Harwich, MA, died gracefully on Monday, August 7, 2017.
