Rachel Carrero

Lawrence Based Educational Advocate

rcarrera@massadvocates.org

Rachel is a dedicated education advocate based in Lawrence and a proud mother of three children with unique diagnoses. Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, to Puerto Rican parents, Rachel has always had a deep passion for helping others. This passion was ignited when her firstborn began grade school.

Before joining MAC, Rachel worked in the finance industry, focusing on compliance with tax returns. She took pride in ensuring that every taxpayer she assisted understood their returns line by line and that they were fully compliant with federal regulations. However, Rachel found herself torn between her career and her true calling.

It wasn't until her sons were diagnosed that Rachel discovered her true passion. Raising children with disabilities has provided her with a unique and critical perspective on the service system and its impact on the community. Her family's lived experiences and her deep connection to her community have been instrumental in shaping her advocacy work.

Rachel’s children have been her greatest inspiration and her best teachers. She intimately understands the challenges caregivers face and is committed to magnifying their voices and advocating for their needs.
