MAC Board member Ann Guay receives Unsung Heroine award

Longtime MAC Board member Ann Guay received an “Unsung Heroine” award June 21 for her service to the local community. State Representative Ken Gordon noted Ann’s work on behalf of children with disabilities and low-income families.

Ann is a member of MAC's Board of Directors and currently serves as Chair of MAC's Friends of the Autism Center. A trained attorney, she worked closely with MAC in advocating for the establishment of the Children's Autism Medicaid Waiver Program, the autism insurance law, and many other key initiatives ensuring services for low-income and immigrant families.

The Unsung Heroine award is given by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women (MCSW) each year to recognize women from across the Commonwealth whose contributions may have previously gone unnoted. Nominations are made by state legislators.

Jerry Mogul, MAC's executive director, congratulated Ann for this well-deserved award, stating "Ann is an inspiration to all of us. She brings her expertise and compassion to shine a light and then work to overcome the barriers faced by the most vulnerable children both in her own community and around the state."
